Dani Pedrosa Prepares for Phillip Island Race

Dani PedrosaDani Pedrosa will return to the track this weekend for Repsol Honda, after an injury forced him to take some time off. Dani Pedrosa, who is from Spain, missed the last two races which were held in Japan and Malaysia, after a collarbone fracture that occurred at the Motegi Circuit around ten days prior in a practice session. Just in time, as the circuit heads to Phillip Island in Australia for what will be the third from the final race of the year, on October 17th, followed by the Portugal round of the series and the final at Valencia, Spain.

Pedrosa is second placed right now in the Championship standings with 47 points ahead of Valentino Rossi, which put him in a very bad position to sustain an injury. He will attempt to keep his number two spot. The number one spot was already decided when Jorge Lorenzo earned enough points in Sepang on Sunday to grab the championship spot for 2010. He said that the decision to skip the race in Malaysia was a tough one, but after a week in recovery he felt right enough to give it a go in the Phillip Island race in Australia.

He will arrive on Wednesday in Australia which will give him some time to rest and find out if he will be able to make it through the race. The Phillip Island circuit is a very challenging one and the weather may also play a factor is track safety. Even though the Championship has been decided, the rest of the places are still up for grabs and it will take some work for Pedrosa to keep his second placed spot, particularly if he has any trouble racing due to his injury. The MotoGP Circuit heads to the Iveco Australian Grand Prix on October 17th.
