The Formula One Championship has named the track that will be home to the Formula One Championship in the United States. Austin, Texas is the location of the newly named Circuit of the Americas and will be the venue for the Formula One Championship's stop in the United States when it returns to the nation in 2012. The track was named recently by organizers of the United States Formula One Grand Prix and construction is still continuing on the circuit with no word on when it will be completed precisely.
Red McCombs, one of the partners that helped to found the facility, explained that one of the best parts of the new facilities name is the word “Americas”, because it shows the circuit at the crossroads of both parts of the North American continent from north to south, and is a central point for everything, as well as showing the state of Texas as a place of commerce and cultural exchange. Managing partner Tavo Hellmund from Full Throttle Productions said also that they were building an entertainment and business destination and winning ideas would be inspired because of the name.
The track is going to be 5.5 kilometers and it is located in Wandering Creek which is near the capital of Texas, south east from it, and there will be a total of one hundred and thirty three feet of elevation changes and twenty turns. Also, the circuit may offer a unique experience for the visitor, allowing them to actually have a driving and riding experience and a kart track, even though the racing will only be around thirty days of the year. It will be a great year for the Formula One Championship, returning to the United States next year.
