Kurt Busch May Be Penalized For Practice Session

Kurt BuschOn Friday, Kurt Busch, driving a number two Dodge sponsored by Penske, allegedly violated tire quotas. That means that he will face a penalty on Saturday according to FoxSports.com. The number two team apparantly had an extra set of tires from the Gunselman Motorsports Organization. In the practice session, Busch raced with new tires on the right side of his car and old tires on the left. However, Busch crew chief Steve Addington called it a “miscommunication with NASCAR” saying that it was an unintentional mixup and they got penalized for it.

Sanctions will be handed down before the Saturday sessions, after the sanctioning body goes through the tire inventories for both of the teams. Each team in the Cup Series is allowed to have a total set of six tires for the New Hampshire race, including the three practice sessions and qualifying. However, no matter what the Syvania 300 on Sunday will be unaffected, and each team is allowed eight sets of tires. Busch is qualified number 12th right now for the race on Sunday, which is part of the NASCAR Chase for the Cup.

Some people think that Kyle Busch might be a sleeper in the 12 races for the Sprint Cup, which is happening right now in the Sprint Cup Series. Busch is currently ranked 5th in the standings one spot after brother Kyle Busch and ias a total of 5020 points. He is preceded by Kyle, Kevin Harvick who is third right now for 5030, with Jimmy Johnson in second place with 5060 points and then Denny Hamlin leads the standings right now with 5060 points. Tony Stewart follows Kurt Busch in the standings.
