Mark Webber has done it again. The thirty-three year old Australian Driver won the Monaco Grand Prix to take his second in a row, from pole position both times. He hit the checkered right in front of his teammate Sebastian Vettel from Germany. The win puts him at the top of the leader board right now with a total of 78 points earned in the past 6 races. Webber called it the greatest day of his life and said that is was incredible to win two races in a row. The previous races was the Spanish Grand Prix, held May 7th through the 9th.
Sebastian Vettel, Mark Webber Red Bull Teammate was only four tenths-of-a-second behind and Robert Kubica with Renault was in third place. Felipe Massa took fourth, while Lewis Hamilton was in fifth place driving for McLaren. Jenson Button was out of the race early, being the defending Formula One World Champions, having engine trouble. The race had its own problems with several crashes and four safety cars on the track. The last three laps were just a few of the many laps that had to be slowed down for the safety car.
On the standings, Sebastian Vettel had been on top but after Webber's win, he joined Vettel with 78 points and one slot above him, having been given the spot based upon the fact that he won two races. . That also gives Red Bull and first and second win at this race and more points on the standings. They are now at the top of the team leaderboard with 156 points. This is very significant because it is the first time in twenty years that an Australian has won back to back Formula One races. This is Mark Webber's fourth career win.
