NASCAR will soon tell us who the newest five members are that will be in the Hall of Fame, which is the highest honor afforded by NASCAR Debating. In fact, the unveiling comes on Wednesday, and the new five inductees will join Dale Earnhardt, Bill France, and Bill France Jr. as well as Richard Petty and Junior Johnson. However, some are wondering is NASCAR should categorize Hall of Fame members to recognize those who work behind the scenes as well, so that those who aren't in the spotlight still get recognition for their achievements.
Although what fans see are the driver's, whether that be on the track during a race or through interviews and other media, or in commercials and other television programs. But NASCAR is composed of hundreds of people who have done as much or more than the drivers. Should those that are not necessarily in the spotlight be placed into the Hall of Fame as well? For instance, Chris Economaki, or broadcaster Barney Hall, the voice of MRN Radio, who has been announcing NASCAR event for fifty years now.
Chocolate Myers is another long-standing icon in the sport, having been the gasman for Dale Earnhardt. Myers has been to victory lane no less than 84 times and has spent 20 years as a member of the NASCAR crew. In fact, Chocolate and father Bobby Myers have a NASCAR award that bears their name, called the Myers Brothers Award, and Chocolate Myers was in the Hollywood movie Smokey and the Bandit. However, some disagree with these ideas, saying that the current system of selecting Hall of Fame inductees is the right one and there is no reason to mess up a good thing.
