Mark Webber was the winner of the Spanish Grand Prix and although the 33-year-old Australian race car driver looked good winning the championship, and dominated from his pole position and up ahead of everyone else, he was quite humble about his win. He beat second placed Fernando Alonso by a full 24 seconds and teammate Sebastian Vettel said that there was no way to get around Webber once he got started out there, and said that a lot of things had gone wrong for him in the race. However, amidst problems Webber still took that top podium spot.
Mark Webber said that even though he was able to dominate with his Red Bull Racing's Renault in Barcelona, that people shouldn't count out Ferraris and McLarens. He said, there are some extremely competitive cars at the front of the race and named Red Bull, Ferrari and McLaren, adding that there were “some pretty decent drivers as well”. The Team Boss for Red Bull Racing said that they were happy to have both drivers on the podium and said that they had a team working extremely hard in the garage, saying that this was a great day for the team.
As for Sebastian Vetttel, he was able to take third, so he was sitting on the podium as well, but he suffered from all kinds of problems throughout the race. Some of the things he encountered were balance problems and difficulties with his brakes. Vettel said that Mark Webber was in a league of his own today, and that he simply was not quick enough, not wanting to risk coming around the outside because of the slipperiness. The next Formula One Championship race, the Monaco Grand Prix, will be May 15th and 16th.
