The next big Formula One Championship race is the Singapore Grand Prix, which will be held the 24th, 25th and 26th of September. The race is held at the Marina Bay Street Circuit in Singapore and this year is going to be amazingly well attended, as they have already reached 80 percent of capacity for ticket sales and added more grandstand seats. The Marina Bay Street Circuit is 5.067 kilometers long and has been the location for this great race since last year, which was also the year that the race became a night race, being run after the sun went down. This year will also be a night race.

The race was held in the 1960's and the 1970's as part of the Formula Libre events, and was held at the Thompson Road circuit. The race was first rn in 1961, and began as the Orient Year Grand Prix. Next year the name changed to the Malaysian Grand Prix. However, in 1965 political struggles finally allowed Singapore to gain its independence, and the race but named the Singapore Grand Prix, the name it bears today, although for sponsorship reasons, the race is called the Singtel Singapore Grand Prix, the title sponsor being one of Asia's largest communications companies.
The race ended after the 1973, either because of a series of accidents in 1972 and 1973, and having to close the busy streets for the event, but it is also supposed that oil prices may have also caused the collapse of the great race. Last year it was started up again and the winner was Fernando Alonso of Spain, driving for Team Renault F1. This year will be another great night race and you can watch it live right here www.liveracingonline.com with access to our high quality video streams and feeds live from the circuit as the Singapore Grand Prix Live commences September 24th.

The win from Fernando Alonso was the first one that had ever been won in this race from a country that wasn't Singapore or New Zealand. In 1966 and in 1967 two drivers from Singapore took the title: Lee Han Seng in '66 and Rodney Seow with Merlyn Ford in '67. The rest of the time the race was won by new Zealand drivers, most notably Graeme Lawrence who bounced from three different teams in the three years that he won, 1969, 1970 and 1971. Max Stewart also had a win, driving for Mildren Waggott, and Vern Schuppan won the last race held before it was discontinued. The 1968 race was won by Elfin Ford driver Garrie Cooper.
Last year Felipe Massa from Brazil took pole position with a time of 1:44.801 while the fastest lap honor was given to Kimi Raikkonen of Ferrari. His time was 1:45.599. Fernando Alonso finished in 1 hour 57 minutes and 16.304 seconds while Nico Rosberg took second place driving for Williams Toyota with a time that was just shy of three seconds later and Lewis Hamilton took third place. The British driver was the teammate of Nico Rosberg and had an add on time of about six seconds. The rest of the top ten included Timo Glock, Sebastian Vettel, Nick Heidfeld, David Coulthard, Kazuki Nakajima, Jenson Button and Heikki Kovalainen.
The previous race to this one was the Gran Premio Santander d'Italia or Italian Grand Prix, which was held on the 13th of September at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza in Monza, Italy. The race was won by Rubens Barrichello who boasted a great time of 1:16:21.706. Second place was Jenson Button, and third place was taken by Kimi Raikkonen. It was Lewis Hamilton who secured pole position in this race, but he ended up outside of the top ten, in 12th place. The rest of the top ten finishers included Fernando Alonso, Adrian Sutil, Heikki Kovalainen, Nick Heidfeld, Sebastian Vettel, Giancarlo Fisichella and Kazuki Nakijima.

The next race on the Formula One Racing Championship Calender will be the Japanese Grand Prix which is fifty three laps long with a circuit length of 5.807 kilometers. It's a total of more than 307 kilometers and Kimi Raikkonen holds the lap record. It will take place on October 4th.
