Spanish Grand Prix Live

The Formula One Gran Premio de Espana in Catalunya will be happening from May 20^th to the 22^nd, and it will be followed by the Grand Prix of Monaco just a week later. Also coming up on the calendar, the Grand Prix of Canada and the Grand Prix of Europe in Valencia which will both be held at each end of the month of June. We started the year for the 2011 season of Formula One Championship in style with the first event in Australia. It was held on March 27^th and Sebastian Vettel won for Red Bull Racing Renault. Next up, the series was in Malaysia, and that race happened on April 10^th. Sebastian Vettel for RBR Renault was once again the Championship. The third race was in China on April 17^th, won this time by Lewis Hamilton for McLaren Mercedes and then Sebastian Vettel took his third title of 2011 so far in Turkey on May 8^th.

The driver's standings right now have Sebastian Vettel in first place, not surprising after winning three out of the four races run so far this year. Lewis Hamilton is in second place with 59 points to Vettel's 93. Mark Webber takes third and Jenson Button was in fourth place. In fifth place we have Fernando Alonso. The last event was in Shanghai, China, April 16^th through the 18^th, and was held at the Shanghai International Circuit which is 5.451 kilometers, which made for 56 laps for this event. The race was won by Jenson Button with McLaren-Mercedes, and his teammate Lewis Hamilton took second place. Nico Rosberg with Mercedes GP took third. The tournament in Spain will be held at the Circuit de Catalunya, with sixty six laps and a circuit length of 4.655 km. That's a total race distance of 307.104 km and Kimi Raikkonen holds the lap record for this track.

Last year in Spain, Jenson Button and his McLaren Mercedes teammate Rubens Barrichello took first and second in this event, with Mark Webber and his RBR-Renault teammate Sebastian Vettel taking third and fourth. Fifth was Fernando Alonso. This year expectations are high and Michael Shumacher is back to run another race, so it is sure to be an edge-of-your-seat event.
