Dakar Rally Raid Live

The Dakar Rally Raid is a off road race featuring several different types of vehicles. The raid begain in 1978 and was originally an endurance race from Paris to Dakar. This event was not held in 2008, but the 2009 rally it began being held in South America, which will continue to be the venue this year. Both amateur and professional drivers and riders participate in this event and the vehicles are true off-road vehicles, with the track consisting of grass, rocks, dunes, mud and many other surfaces. The distances of each stage varies.

Last year Marc Coma took the Bikes Championship for the drivers while Alejandro Patronelli took the ATV/Quads. Nassar Al Attiyah came out on top for cars and it was Vladimir Chagin for Trucks. In the Contructor's KTM took the bike's championship, Yamaha took the ATV/Quads and Volkswagen took the cars. Kamaz was the champion in trucks. The Dakar Rally Raid Live is January 1^st through the 17^th and we begin in Buenos Aires with the first Bivouac on the 1^st, with the Raid in Argentina and Chile The 2^nd through the 16^th, and the final day back in Buenos Aires for the big finish. This traditional race sees lots of new talent every year and is called the toughest rally of the year. This challenge began back in 1977 and you can watch the 2010 edition live by getting your membership at the banners on this page, and signing up for high quality video streams of the race.

The route of the race takes us from Buenos Aires and then through Colon and Cordoba. The next stops are La Rioja and Fiambala and the onto Iquique. There is a rest day in Antofagast on January 9^th and then onto Copiapo and La Serena passing through Santiago, San Juan and Santa Rosa on the way back to the Capital of Argentina. The race passes through both Argentina and Chile for a total race mileage of 9000 kilometers as these riders race through the burning sand of the Atacama Desert.

The Dakar is going to be a great race, now in its 32^nd edition. Not only do the competitors need great technical performance but also physical stamina.
